The undergraduate Class of 2021 and the MSOT class of 2022 arrived at Alvernia University Aug. 17, and took part in service projects around the City of Reading for Orientation Day of Service Aug. 18.

Over 150 upper class students will be serving as Peer Mentors in the more than 20 Iowa State University Learning Communities with ties to the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) for the 2017-2018 academic year. Mentors help new students in the college make the transition to life at Iowa State. These selected Peer Mentors are often involved with organizing study groups, social events, and out-of-class activities. Coastal Carolina University's held a commencement ceremony for an estimated 390 candidates for graduation Aug. 4, 2017, at the HTC Student Recreation and Convocation Center on campus. In his remarks, commencement speaker John Hutchens, biology professor and ecologist, encouraged graduates to take time in the future to interact with nature and with other people. "In today's high tech world we are often racing along at breakneck speed, but being outside slows you down and allows you to experience the rhythms of nature," said Hutchens. "You can actually hear yourself think and you can be a part of something bigger than yourself."

Loyola University Maryland has announced the members of its spring 2017 Dean's List. In order to qualify for the Dean's List at Loyola, a student must achieve a minimum QPA of at least 3.500 for the term, provided that, in the term they have successfully completed courses totaling a minimum of 15 credits.

Degree-seeking undergraduate students are eligible for Dean's List if their term GPA is greater than or equal to 3.400; they do not have any grades of "Incomplete", "D" or "F"; and they have registered for, and completed, at least 12 credit hours.

Kutztown University has conferred degrees on more than 1,200 students during the winter and spring semesters. Kutztown University announces degree conferment twice a year, once in the winter and once in the summer. Commencement exercises are held in May and December; however, students finish their requirements for graduation throughout the entire year. The cumulative grade point average necessary for honor distinction is: with honor (cum laude) 3.40; with high honor (magna cum laude) 3.60 and with highest honor (summa cum laude) 3.80. The following students have been awarded degrees since the summer 2016 announcement. Students who have requested privacy (FERPA) are not listed publicly.
